Large Animal Internal Medicine Division

 

Mission

The Large Animal Internal Medicine division is one of 5 main divisions of the Department of Clinical Sciences. The primary goals of the Large Animal Internal Medicine division are providing instruction to veterinary students, interns and residents, conducting research in the field of large animal internal medicine  and service missions in the areas of equine health, production animal (food animal) health, and companion animal health by educating veterinarians, providing medical services, and generating new knowledge through clinical research. The Large Animal Internal Medicine division provides referral services, routine care, emergency care, and herd disease outbreak investigations for livestock owners

 

Teaching

The Large Animal Internal Medicine division academic members are responsible for a significant portion of the clinical training program for fifth and sixth-year veterinary students, as well as large animal externship and internship and residency programs.

DVM courses: Large Animal Internal Medicine, Large Animal Metabolic Diseases, Large Animal Poisoning, Principles of Large Animal Examination.

DVSc courses: Diseases of the Cardiovascular System, Diseases of the Respiratory System, Diseases of the Nervous System, Diseases of the Digestive System, Diseases of the Urinary System, Diseases of the Integument System, Large Animal Infectious Diseases.

Research

Faculty members are actively involved in clinical and basic research, as well as programs such as DVM thesis, DVSc Thesis and research plans.

 

Service / Lab 

The Large Animal Internal Medicine members provide clinical services in the Teaching and Research Hospital of Veterinary Medicine, Faculty of Shahid Bahonar University of Kerman and offer consultations and continuing education programs for practicing veterinarians in the community. It encompasses many animal species including horses, donkeys, cattle, sheep, goats, camels, and other exotic large animals.
